Just Words
03:36
|
|||
Maybe there’s a reason I freak out when I look down and all I see are black keys.
My cube spins around and I scream, but there’s never any sound.
My dreams for this trip could feed a thousand fools, but they can’t fuel my car.
Plants and machines work just fine; fine for me, but will they fuel my dreams?
All they say are words. All they say are just words.
They say, “Kid, now’s your chance because one day you can’t just do what you want.”
They sound so sad and so wrong.
Maybe there’s a reason I freak out when all I see are black keys.
Plants and machines work just fine; fine for me, but will they fuel my dreams?
And all they say are words. All they say are just words.
They say, “Kid, now’s your chance because one day you can’t just do what you want.”
They sound so sad and so wrong.

Hopelessly Hoping
04:33
|
|||
If I wake up tomorrow and not know who I am,
will I lay there in sorrow or would I be a new man?
Would the new morning sun be the one to cleanse my regrets,
or would I be looking for someone I never met?
If my phone started buzzing and your name lit up the screen,
would that light give me comfort? Would it mean something to me?
Could all my mistakes be erased from this unfortunate thought,
or would I be that person still fated and flawed?
My hopes might be hopeless. They're my air and my food.
So I keep on drinking the water that I'm use to.
If I never left prison or the warmth of your bed,
would rolling stone junkies be stealing my bread?
Would all that seems safe keep me safe?
Would all that seems wrong do me harm?
It's never decided no matter which side I'm on.
My hopes might be hopeless. They're my air and my food.
So I keep on drinking the water that I'm use to.

Holy Moan
03:52
|
|||
The warmth that spread through our bodies meant
every thing is all right here.
The constant flow from heart to bone; from skin to sky to sand to snow.
Listening to holy moan
I... I was home.
I was everywhere I ever needed to be.
The blades of grass under your head.
The milky white made silhouettes.
The rush of leaves accompaniment.
The silent glow of ceiling stretched
and I...
I was home.
I was everywhere.
I was everywhere I ever needed to be

Boston Girl
04:28
|

I had to catch a flight and change my name.
I had barely escaped.
Spies just do as they like.
They can love and leave later that night.
Get into a big gun fight.
Well just how many days did you think it would take before I remembered your name and knew that you'd never change?
There's only so many ways that one can convey disappointment, regret, and dismay.
I guess what I'm what trying to say is:
I don't feel like a raisin. I'm a grape. I'm a sweet nectarine.
My skin gets stuck in your teeth.
I dropped by just to let you know what I think:
You're as selfish as you try not to be.
Now I can be free and clean,
but that was a long long time ago.
I stole an automobile.
Cut the brakes; took the wheel.
Fire is so beautifully bright.
And I saw from the corner of my eye
a blinking “check engine” light.
I knew this was never right.
You can not say to me you gave it your all.
If you're such a Boston girl then why'd you visit New York City?
I had to catch a flight. I had to catch my flight.
Go on. Catch your flight.

Archipelago Me
03:36
|
|||
If there is something to go back to, don't sign that lease.
I've been feeling things that I thought were rightly deceased.
See, life's just a sleepy dream and I think you should say what you mean.
If there is something to go back to then go. Go. Go ahead and go.
If there is hatred to hold onto, lay your head down and weep.
A little bird in my tree gives me peace I can keep.
If life's such a sleepy dream then why don't I just say what I mean?
If there is something to hold onto then hold. Hold until you're sad and old.
I've been hiding all of my sickly songs,
because I am an island in the sea of what I think I should be.
Archipelago me.
